Job summary

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors, LLC is offering an Assistant Project Engineer Intern role for the upcoming Summer Internship Program in Knoxville, Tennessee. The internship provides undergraduate students with exposure to different building types and delivery methods while gaining on-the-job experience on active projects.

Qualifications

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assist with RFIs, document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Read through and understand specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

What You Will Do

As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern, primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:

What You Will Bring To The Team

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, And Skills For This Role Include

• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
