Job summary

The Christman Company is offering an internship program for Assistant Project Engineer Interns during the upcoming Summer Internship Program. Interns will gain hands-on experience with project planning and construction activities on commercial projects.

Active, full-time students in civil engineering or construction management with a minimum 3.0 GPA are encouraged to apply, bringing previous internship exposure and leadership involvement in student organizations.

Qualifications

• Active, full-time Sophomore–Senior level student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

The Christman Company is looking for Assistant Project Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program! As a valued member of our operations team, you will have opportunities to gain hands‑on experience during either project planning and/or construction phases.

What You Will Do

Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you play a crucial part in supporting the construction project team. Primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.

What You Will Bring To The Team
