Job summary

HealthFitness, a Trustmark company, is seeking an Assistant Program Manager to support operations across two Merrimack, NH locations. This full-time role supervises staff, oversees daily activities, and contributes to strategic planning and service delivery.

Expect collaboration, training, and adherence to safety protocols while ensuring quality programs for members. You will lead fitness programs, coordinate staff development, and engage with clients to meet objectives, all in a Monday–Friday

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent plus two years related work experience.
• OSHA compliant First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Group Exercise Instructor certification from ACE/AFAA/NASM/ACSM/NCCA/NETA (if not current required within 3 months).
• NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification (if not current required within 1 year).
• Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lead in a collaborative environment and organize priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff including full/part-time, on-call, instructors and interns; oversee day-to-day site operations.
• Support development and implementation of yearly strategic plan and marketing strategy to meet client objectives.
• Develop and implement fitness programs and health education activities; coordinate marketing for engagement.
• Ensure staff training and certifications; provide feedback and conduct annual performance appraisals.
• Conduct safety checks and audits; ensure training on safety and incident reporting.

About the role

Assistant Program Manager - 40 hrs/week - Monday-Friday - No weekends The Assistant Program Manager to support operations across two locations in Merrimack, NH . This role assists with daily program oversight, staff support, and ensuring quality service delivery. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday , with no weekends or holidays required . Ideal candidates are organized, dependable, and comfortable leading in a collaborative environment.

Key Accountabilities

• Assists in supervising staff which includes full and parttime staff, on-call, group exercise instructors and interns. Oversee/supervise the day-to-day activities at the site which includes opening/closing, employee schedules, and ensuring proper protocols and procedures are followed to maintain the efficient operation of the facility.
• Contributes to the development and implementation of the yearly strategic business plan to identify contract deliverables, program/ service offerings and initiatives, targeted outcomes and marketing strategy to meet client objectives. Submits employment forms, payroll records and billing worksheets accurately and according to contract provisions and HealthFitness policies.
• Develops and implements individual fitness programs, health education activities, motivational programs and special events; coordinates and develops marketing and communications to maximize program engagement.
• Works with Program Manager to ensure all staff is properly trained and hold appropriate certifications necessary for safe and effective program delivery; provides continuous feedback and coaching to all program staff to ensure quality of all programs and services being delivered. Conducts formal performance appraisals on an annual basis and initiates formal corrective action process when warranted.
• Assists with informal safety checks on a daily basis and performs routine safety audits on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis in accordance with HFC guidelines. Ensures staff receives proper training in companywide and site-specific safety and accident prevention programs and procedures, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting and corrective action procedures.
• Manages all record and data management activities at the worksite, ensuring the proper storage, retention and confidentiality all data collected in accordance with HealthFitness requirements.
• Performs staff responsibilities as appropriate including floor supervision, fitness testing, exercise prescription, new member facility and equipment orientations.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate's degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Kinesiology, or related discipline plus two years of related work experience OR the equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience.
• OSHA compliant Adult First Aid/CPR/AED from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, National Safety Council, or American Safety & Health Institute.
• Industry recognized Group Exercise Instructor certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA (if not current will be required within 3 months of hire)
• NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification from an Industry recognized and HealthFitness approved agency (if not current will be required withing 1 year of hire.
• Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
• Competency in the delivery of HealthFitness and site-specific programs and services.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
