Job summary

Northeast Arc is seeking an Assistant Program Director for a home in Topsfield, MA. This full-time role supports individuals in their community and within the home, guiding quality living experiences and responsive caregiving.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, documenting care, coordinating with Drs and nurses, and ensuring compliance with policies. Applicants should have a HS diploma or BA, access to a MA driver’s license, and ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA preferred or HS Diploma/GED with two years in human services.
  • Maintain required certifications (First Aid, CPR, MAPs, Vehicle Safety, UP, Human Rights Officer, Fire Safety).
  • Massachusetts driver's license required; ability to lift 50 pounds and assist with transfers.

  • Facilitate meaningful community experiences to support skill development and independence.
  • Participate in supervision, staff meetings, QA, and trainings; assist in on-site supervision and staff support.
  • Administer medications according to policies and MAPs regulations.
  • Provide hands-on support at home, including transfers, bathing, grooming, and dining protocols.

Our Residential department is looking for a full time Assistant Program Director to join our team at one of our newest homes; this home is in Topsfield.

Job Summary

To provide quality living supports and be responsive to individuals and staff at all times. Teach, support and facilitate choices for people in their homes and within their communities. Assist with the day-to-day operation of the home.

Major Responsibilities
  • Document accurately and thoroughly including in Inter-Team Communication Logs, Health Records, Daily Data Books and Fire Drill Logs as outlined in Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures
  • Facilitate meaningful community experiences for each individual that fosters skill acquisition, relationship building and independence.
  • Participate in Supervision, Staff Meetings, QAs and other meetings/trainings as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure self and staff have required trainings. Assist in training DSPs on house systems and the unique needs of each individual, including providing on-site supervision and support to staff.
  • Administer medications according to Northeast Arc Policies and Procedures and MAPs Regulations.
  • Support Drs appointments, ER and hospital visits and contact on-call nursing appropriately.
  • Provide hands-on support at the home, including individualized supports in transferring, bathing and grooming, and following specific dining protocols and treatments.
  • Maintain the home and agency vehicles through seasonal maintenance, routine cleaning and immediate reporting of issues or concerns
  • Complete ISP documentation, incident reporting and other necessary documentation in accordance with Northeast Policies and Procedures and funding Regulations.
  • Maintain and review records for individual and house bank accounts in accordance with Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures; assist with Rep Payee and entitlement paperwork as assigned.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed. Report critical issues (including behavioral, medical and maintenance) immediately to the Program Director and complete required documentation.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA preferred, HS Diploma/GED and two years Human Service Experience supporting adults with developmental disability or within human services.
  • Maintain certifications as required in Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures, including but not exclusive to: First Aid, CPR, MAPs, Vehicle Safety, UP, Human Rights Officer and Formal Fire Safety Trained.
  • Maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for periods of time, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary and be able to lift and/or transfer individuals.
  • Works in the community in a home setting with either multiple residents or someone who lives independently.
  • Prior experience in a direct support role working with individuals with disabilities.
