Job description

Position Overview

Assistant Professor, Spanish/Second Language Pedagogy (Full-time, Faculty - Non-Tenure). Reporting to the Head of the World Languages Department, this position teaches undergraduate Spanish and second-language instruction, develops scholarship, and supports student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach all levels of undergraduate Spanish, both in-person and online, for a total of 24 credits per year (12 per semester).
  • Teach asynchronous online second-language instruction courses (TESL/TESOL).
  • Develop an active scholarship and research agenda.
  • Support students outside the classroom: advisor to student organizations, supervise student research, lead international study experiences, and collaborate in other high-impact experiences.
  • Provide service to the department, college, and university.
  • Serve on the editorial board of Azahares, the award-winning departmental literary journal.
  • Participate in recruitment activities and outreach to Latino/Hispanic communities in the area.
  • Contribute to curriculum development in the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Spanish Language, Second Language Pedagogy, TESOL, or related field.
  • Experience working in higher education (preferred).
  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Proven excellence in teaching.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to work well with others.
Additional Information
