  • Demonstrated expertise in focused ultrasound, neuroscience, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, molecular biosciences, or a related discipline.
  • Strong record of research productivity and scholarly achievement.
  • Potential to develop a successful extramural funding portfolio.
  • Experience in translational neuroscience or neurotechnology research.
  • Experience with therapeutic ultrasound, neuromodulation, brain drug delivery, imaging, or related technologies.
  • Experience mentoring students and trainees.

Responsibilities

  • Establish an independent research program and contribute to departmental goals.
  • Collaborate across departments and centers to develop innovative therapies and technologies for neurological disease.
  • Participate in teaching, mentorship, and translation activities within the neurosurgery and neuroscience communities.

Job description

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of MarylandSchool of Medicine seeks an innovative investigator withexpertise in focused ultrasound, neuroscience, neuroengineering,biomedical engineering, bioengineering, molecular biosciences, or arelated field.

The successful candidate will establish an independent researchprogram and join a collaborative environment focused on developinginnovative therapies and technologies for neurological disease.Opportunities exist for collaboration across the Department ofNeurosurgery, the Center for Translational Engineering in Medicine(CTEM), the University of Maryland Institute for Neuroengineeringand Data Science (UM-MIND), and other interdisciplinary researchprograms.

Expected Rank

Expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor orhigher, however, final rank and tenure status will be commensuratewith selected candidate's experience.

Salary Range

$110,000 - $175,000 annually

The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based onfaculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not includeall components of the Department of Neurosurgery facultycompensation program or pay from participation in Departmentalvariable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensationpaid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary rangestated herein. For more information, please contact the hiringdepartment.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximumsalaries for this position and is based on the University ofMaryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time ofposting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end ofthe salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selectedcandidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors,which may include the successful candidate's geographic location,skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions,education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined bythe University.
