Job Description / Duties

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Kinesiology program (typically includes a 3:3 teaching load). Conducting and maintaining an active independent line of research in the discipline. Participating in service activities for the department, university, community, and professional organizations. Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research and scholarly activities.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Earned Ph.D. in Kinesiology or a closely related discipline. Candidates whose degree is in a related discipline must demonstrate academic experience to be considered applicable for designation as Kinesiology faculty. Demonstrated potential to provide effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Record of scholarly productivity in Kinesiology or related discipline.

ABD with reduction in rank and salary: ABD will be considered for this position. Evidence of successful defense of the dissertation must be received by July 31 for a fall hire or November 30 for a spring hire. If confirmation of defense is not provided by the deadline, the candidate will receive a new one-year fixed-term contract and be hired at the rank of Instructor. The candidate’s salary will also be reduced to a lower rate commensurate with other full-time instructors in the same department. However, if degree verification is provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the candidate will be returned to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.

No ABD consideration: Only candidates with an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution will be considered for the position. Since ABD will not meet the minimum requirements, ABD will not be considered.

Areas of interest and preferred qualifications

  1. 1) Demonstrated teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas: Exercise physiology, exercise prescription, sport and exercise nutrition, human anatomy and physiology, exercise psychology, behavior change, data analysis, and/or research methods
  2. 2) CEP, EP, CSCS, CPSS, CMPC or other relevant credential
  3. 3) A clearly articulated and impactful and fundable research agenda
  4. 4) Evidence of ability to mentor students in scholarly endeavors and career advancement
  5. 5) Evidence of service to the university, community, and/or professional organizations
  6. 6) Evidence of post graduate education experience (postdoctoral or other professional)
