Job summary

Western Connecticut State University’s School of Visual, Performing, and Communication Arts seeks an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts to teach undergraduate stage management and to oversee student training and professional development. The successful candidate will direct one WestRep Stage production annually and contribute to curriculum shaping in line with AEA standards.

The position emphasizes engagement with diverse student populations, departmental service, and additional teaching duties

Qualifications

• MFA in Stage Management or Directing preferred.
• Candidates without a terminal degree may be considered with at least 10 years of professional experience in Stage Management and/or Directing.
• Evidence of at least three (3) years of college teaching experience and departmental service required.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in stage management.
• Direct one production per year for WestRep Stage season.
• Oversee training, mentorship and professional development of student stage managers.
• Align BFA Stage Management curriculum with AEA standards and outcomes.
• Recruit, advise students and participate in departmental and university service.
