Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Religious Studies

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at North Carolina State University invites applications for short‑term teaching positions in Religious Studies during the 2026‑27 academic year. Positions may involve teaching one or more courses for a single semester or the full academic year, depending on departmental needs.

  • Introduction to the New Testament
  • The Hindu Tradition
  • The Buddhist Traditions
  • Islam
  • Other Religious Studies (REL) courses listed in the NC State course catalog
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Religious Studies with excellence and rigor.
  • Design and deliver course material appropriate to the semester schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department head.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Lecturer: Master’s degree in Religious Studies or related field; if teaching graduate‑level courses, a Doctor’s degree (or equivalent) is required.
  • Assistant Teaching Professor: Doctor’s degree in Religious Studies or related field (or equivalent); ability to direct academic activities and participate in departmental service.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Strong commitment to excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. strongly preferred.
