The Theology Department at Xavier University of Louisiana, a Catholic and Historically Black University, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Catholic Studies at the assistant professor level beginning in fall 2027. This position is an opportunity for a teacher and scholar with demonstrated expertise in Catholic studies to contribute to a growing department and undergraduate core curriculum. Scholars whose research and/or teaching connects Catholic studies with history, theology, biblical studies, psychology, ethics, decolonial thought, womanist thought, feminist thought, interreligious dialogue, science-engaged theology, or other interdisciplinary approaches to Catholic intellectual and religious traditions are especially encouraged to apply.
Teach undergraduate-level courses in theology, including introductory courses and more specialized courses in Catholic studies and their area(s) of specialization. Maintain an active research agenda and a record of scholarly, peer-reviewed publications. Mentor students minoring and majoring in theology. Engage in service to the department, college, and university. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
