Salary: Between $58,000 and $67,000 annually
The Teacher Education and Leadership Department at Canisius University invites applications for a 10-month, long-term, non-tenure track faculty position with expertise in special education to begin August 2025. This position has the potential to be converted to a tenure-track position in the future. Applicants should possess a Doctorate in Special Education (or a closely related field) or have their degree completed within one year of the date of hire. Teacher certification in Special Education is required. We seek a colleague whose teaching interests may include teaching students with emotional and behavioral disorders, students with mild disabilities, and students with intellectual disabilities and autism. Applicants should be comfortable supervising field experiences in teacher education. It is preferred that the successful applicant should exhibit potential for publication of scholarly research in the field of education. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
The Teacher Education and Leadership Department, housed in the School of Education and Human Services, offers several undergraduate and graduate programs leading to teacher certification. The undergraduate programs include Adolescence Education, Childhood Education/TESOL, Physical Education and Health, and Special Education/Childhood Education. The department also offers a combined 4+1 Degree with a BA/BS in Adolescence Content Area, Grades 7-12 and an MSed in Students with Disabilities (PreK-12). Graduate degrees include Adolescence Education, Adolescence Education/Students with Disabilities (PreK-12), Childhood Education/TESOL, Childhood Education, Grades 1-6/Special Education (PreK-12), Physical Education Initial Certification, and Teaching Students with Disabilities (PreK-12, fully online). The University also supports a vibrant teacher residency program in which the new faculty member may teach. This position will teach a 4-course per semester load or its equivalent, provide academic advisement to students, and engage in service to the department, university, and community.
We seek candidates with a strong identity as a teacher and mentor. Candidates should be familiar and comfortable teaching in-person, hybrid, as well as asynchronously online.

Compensation And Benefits
Salary: between $58,000 and $67,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The actual pay will be based on experience and other non-discriminatory factors. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment after one year. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time faculty and their qualified dependents.
