Job summary

• Familiarity with outcomes-based learning and core undergraduate research methods, statistics, and/or capstone courses.

• Teaching & Learning: Teaching at the undergraduate level including courses such as counseling psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, career/professional development, experiential learning, community psychology, and/or writing in psychology courses and/or in core courses (e.g., research methods, statistics, capstone).
• Discovery, Creation, & Integration: Research and scholarship which may include seeking research funding, presenting at conferences, publishing peer‑reviewed articles, and working with undergraduate students.
• Professional Application: Service to your profession and the community. Examples of such responsibilities may include supporting a community organization in work that uses your expertise, manuscript peer review, and/or leadership roles in a professional organization related to your field of study.
• University Service: Service to the university, college, and department. These responsibilities generally include participating in department, college, and campus‑wide committees, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participating in traditional academic functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated ability, interest, and experience in teaching undergraduate counseling psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, career/professional development, experiential learning, community psychology, and/or writing in psychology courses.
• Demonstrated success or strong interest in mentoring marginalized college students or other marginalized populations in strengthening professional skills and exploring career possibilities.
• Demonstrated alignment with the values stated in the CSUMB Founding Vision Statement .

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity and experience with outcomes‑based learning, especially in alignment with the American Psychological Association’s Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major .
• Demonstrated ability, interest, and experience in teaching core undergraduate research methods, statistics, and/or capstone courses.
• Demonstrated ability, interest, and experience in mentoring or supporting individuals from marginalized or non‑traditional college backgrounds (e.g., low‑income, justice‑involved, former foster youth, veterans, disabled, first‑generation, and/or minoritized college students).
• Commitment to developing hands‑on research opportunities in an undergraduate‑level research laboratory setting and/or course‑based undergraduate research experience (CURE) courses.
• Research area with expertise in college student success and/or in critical perspectives on social problems, such as critical race theory, decoloniality, or liberation psychology.
• Research area with a focus on Latinx, Black, or another marginalized community.
• Professional training and experience in career development (e.g., credential from the National Career Development Association [NCDA], International Coaching Federation [ICF], or similar professional organization).

Compensation

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,160 to $7,538* mo ($85,928 to $90,451 annual)

• CSUMB provides pay scales representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, and CSU systemwide pay for comparable jobs.
