Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies and ClinicalCoordinator

Chatham University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies and ClinicalCoordinator position. This 12-month professional appointment,under the direct supervision of the Program Director (PD) andAssociate Director for Clinical Education, is responsible for thejoint coordination and implementation of all clinical educationactivities with the Physician Assistant Program. The ClinicalCoordinator holds a professional faculty appointment and isrequired to teach and advise students in the MPAS program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional/Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provides classroom instruction and student learning assessmentas directed by the PD
  • Serve as an academic and clinical advisor for students in theMPAS program
  • Contribute to the development of clinical education curriculumincluding the preparation of course syllabi, objectives, andoutlines
  • Ensure that the clinical education curriculum complies withaccreditation and institutional/program requirements
  • Assist in the development, evaluation, review, and revision ofthe clinical curricula
  • Perform clinical site activities, including student scheduling,site coordination, site evaluation, site development, and sitevisits in cooperation with the Associate Director of ClinicalEducation and the other members of the clinical faculty
  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of thedidactic curriculum as assigned by the PD
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Initiate contacts with and cultivate new clinical trainingsites including preparation of affiliation agreements andcontracts
  • Maintain relationship with existing clinical trainingsites
  • Help to maintain the clinical site database on EXXAT
  • Contribute to the analysis of preceptor and student evaluationsand reporting of clinical education outcomes
  • Contribute to accreditation review, assessment, andimplementation of programmatic changes on an ongoing basis.
  • Contribute to strategic and operations planning to advance theMPAS program and the University mission
  • Assist with preparation of documents and reports needed forARC-PA accreditation and re-accreditation
Professional Responsibilities
  • Actively pursue ongoing professional development as requiredfor maintaining professional qualifications including professionalcertifications and/or licenses required by the National Commissionon Certification of Physician Assistants and the Pennsylvania’sState Board of Medicine
  • Participate in university and professional committees asdirected by the PD or Dean, and as outlined in the FacultyManual
Duties (as directed by the PD)
  • Represent the program at national, state, local, and collegemeetings and other activities as directed by the PD
  • Maintain appropriate files, records, and computerizeddatabase
  • Participate in faculty, program, school, and collegemeetings
  • Participate in the interview and selection process for FT/PTfaculty and preceptors
  • Participate in reviewing student applications and selectionprocess for admission
  • Participate in the recruitment of new students to includepresentations at program orientation seminars and visitations tolocal schools, colleges and universities
  • Keep the PD informed on the progress of all assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the program director
Qualifications:
