The Physical Therapy Program in the Department of Human Movement Science at Oakland University (Rochester, MI) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 15, 2025. This is a unique growth opportunity to join a supportive faculty with excellent resources, balancing teaching, research, and service.
Teaching: Contribute expertise across our Physical Therapy programs, including the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), graduate/post-professional certificates (Orthopedic Manual PT, Oncology Rehab, Teaching & Learning), and Ph.D. in Human Movement Science.
Research: Receive support and mentorship to establish a peer-reviewed research agenda, leveraging state-of-the-art labs, clinical partnerships, and strengths in upstream care and community engagement.
Service: Strengthen relationships with clinical partners, contribute to student recruitment and retention, and enhance academic programs and professional organizations. Oakland University values an inclusive commitment to teaching, research, and service.

The School of Health Sciences serves about 1750 undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and post-professional students through a singular model of advancing community-engaged translational relationships and connecting theory to best practices. Building upon the foundations of the natural and behavioral sciences, we are organized departmentally into four themes: Public and Environmental Wellness, Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, and Human Movement Science. The Department of Human Movement Science (HMS) offers the bachelor (BS), clinical professional (DPT), and post-professional degrees and certificates. Our programs span exercise science (EXS), physical therapy (PT), and uniquely, orthotics and prosthetics (O&P). We operate multiple teaching/research labs available to faculty members, for PT (Acute Care Simulation, Musculoskeletal, Neurorehabilitation); for EXS (Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics Ergonomics Abilities Research, Strength and Fitness); and for O&P (Orthotics and Prosthetics Fabrication).
