Job Description

The Assistant Professor of Nursing & Prelicensure BSN Program Coordinator supports the implementation and ongoing evaluation of the Prelicensure BSN (PLBSN) program through teaching and program coordination. Working with the Department Chair and nursing faculty, the Coordinator supports program operations, regulatory and accreditation activities, curriculum implementation, clinical and simulation planning, student progression processes, and program assessment. The Coordinator collaborates with university departments, clinical partners, and regulatory and accrediting bodies to support program quality, compliance, and student success.

The position includes teaching and program coordination responsibilities, with teaching assignments based on program needs and the candidate's area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

• Earned master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Unencumbered Minnesota RN license.
• Professional nursing experience relevant to undergraduate nursing education and professional nursing practice.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, program coordination, or comparable experience in an academic or healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated experience teaching and evaluating student learning at the undergraduate level.
• Demonstrated experience supporting students through advising, mentoring, or academic guidance.
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching and supporting learners from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in nursing or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Experience in nursing education, academic program coordination, regulatory compliance, and/or accreditation.
• Knowledge of or experience with nursing regulatory and accreditation requirements, including Minnesota Board of Nursing requirements.
• Experience with curriculum implementation and evaluation, clinical education, and/or simulation-based education.
• Experience with program evaluation, assessment of program outcomes, and continuous quality improvement.
• Experience supporting new or evolving academic or nursing programs and/or developing collaborative relationships with healthcare and clinical partners.

Job Description

This on campus position would require teaching a variety of courses including but not limited to: Principles of Accounting I, Principles of Accounting II, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, Cost Accounting I, Cost Accounting II, Federal Tax I, Federal Tax II, Accounting Information Systems, Advanced Accounting, Auditing, Forensic Accounting, Sustainability Accounting, and other courses as needed. Delivery methods include classroom and online instruction for undergraduate students. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student club advising, involvement in department projects, assessment data collection, and activities representing the department at campus-wide recruiting events, and participation in campus committees. Duties also include contribution to student growth and development, participation in department and institutional activities, evaluation of student performance, engagement in scholarly activities, and participation in service to the University and community. Position Responsibilities

• Teaching Undergraduate courses for SMSU’s Accounting program
• Engage in additional activities to support the accounting program and the Business Innovation & Strategy Department, including but not limited to student recruitment and retention to enhance enrollment in the program, and Accounting Club mentorship.
• Meet the expectations of a full-time SMSU probationary faculty member as defined in the MinnState-IFO Agreement.
• Participate fully in the activities and programs of SMSU’s Business Innovation & Strategy Department
• Fulfill the expectations of a full-time probationary faculty member at SMSU in accordance with SMSU’s Assessment and Strategic Plan and its mission, vision, and values.
• The position will engage in scholarly and creative activity, continue preparation and study, contribute to student growth and development, and serve the SMSU Community.
• SMSU, in its commitment to meeting the service needs of the region, expects faculty to engage in regional service as part of their community service activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. or DBA with an emphasis in accounting from a regionally accredited institution. Applicants holding a Master's degree in Accounting and an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license issued by a state board of accountancy will also be considered.
• Experience teaching and/or developing undergraduate accounting courses.
• Evidence of teaching experience in classroom, online, and/or hybrid instructional formats.
• Evidence of written communication skills through application materials and professional, academic, or scholarly work

Preferred Qualification

• Teaching experience in accounting courses at the undergraduate level.
• Professional work experience in accounting outside of academia.
• Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and business/community groups, including but not limited to participating in department accreditation events, student club advising, etc.
• Evidence of teaching performance through student evaluations, peer evaluations, teaching awards, or other documented measures.
• Evidence of current scholarly activity.
• Experience advising, mentoring, coaching, or supporting students through student organizations, internships, research activities, or academic advising.

• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE, CGMA, or related credentials.
