Job summary

Qualifications

• PhD in Linguistics or closely related field by August 2027.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, along with a strong record of research and scholarly publication.
• Commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction, as well as experience conducting data-informed research.
• PhDs in related disciplines are encouraged to apply; however, the role includes teaching foundational courses in linguistics.
• Experience in, or a commitment to, community outreach and engagement.

One of ten departments in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, English offers a range of undergraduate majors and concentrations, minors, three masters programs (MA, MFA , and MSTC ), as well as one joint PhD in Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media ( CRDM ). The Department of English at North Carolina State University invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Linguistics. As a faculty member, you will contribute to our undergraduate major and M.A. concentration through teaching, research, and service.

• corpus linguistics, with a focus on syntax, morphology, or the lexicon; or
• experimental sociolinguistics and/or experimental psycholinguistics.
