Posting Number 20162833F Job Description Ohio University Southern located in Ironton, Ohio, is seeking candidates for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Nursing, a non-tenure track faculty position for traditional on-campus pre-licensure nursing instruction at the associate and bachelor’s degree levels. This is a full-time time, position requiring a workload of 36 credit hours per year which includes teaching and assigned service commitments within the School of Nursing.

This is an in-person teaching position teaching for the associate degree and baccalaureate degree programs. The successful candidate will be responsible to plan, implement, and evaluate instruction using various methods and modes of delivery. Didactic instruction will be assigned based on expertise and credentials. Successful candidates may be expected to provide clinical site, laboratory, and didactic instruction to student learners for assigned nursing courses.

Additional expectations include (but are not limited to:

1) Meeting with course faculty to develop course expectations.
2) Identifying students’ needs based on objectives of the relevant course.
3) Providing instruction to students in the classroom, at the clinical sites, and/or in laboratory/simulation settings.
4) Assisting students in using problem-solving techniques.

Service activities will occur within the School of Nursing, the College and/or Regional Campus, the University, and the discipline of nursing. Service activities will include, but do not need to be limited to, committee work, special assignments, active participation in professional groups, and relevant community activities.

Participation in scholarship is not required. All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met.

Minimum Qualifications Master of Science in Nursing ( MSN ) degree from an accredited school of professional nursing is required by the start date of appointment.

An active and unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) or multistate RN license, or eligibility for obtaining and maintaining an Ohio or multistate RN license is required. Must have Ohio or multistate RN license prior to start date.

A minimum of two years (24 months full-time equivalent) of work experience as an RN in the United States is required. Preferred Qualifications At least five years’ experience in the nursing profession with at least two years as a faculty member in an associate degree or BSN program is preferred.
