Job Summary/Basic Function:

To teach classes on an as-needed basis in nursing discipline at the Lake Campus. This posting is for Fall 2025 through Summer 2026.

  • Health Promotion & Assessment of Adults (NUR 2100)
  • Introduction to Clinical Nursing (NUR 2400)
  • Nursing Care of Individuals & Groups in Mental Health (NUR 3420)
  • Nursing Care of Adults (NUR 3480)
  • Foundations of Research & Evidence Based Practice (NUR 3300)
  • Nursing Care of Women & Childbearing Family (NUR 3440)
  • Nursing Care of Children (NUR 3460)
  • Critical Care Nursing Across the Lifespan (NUR 4420)
  • Public Health Nursing (NUR 4440)
  • Leadership & Management in Professional Nursing (NUR 4460)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing discipline or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a practicing RN.
  • Must have an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. BCI & FBI background checks required of all applicants.
  • BLS / CPR required.
  • Immunizations must be current.
  • Professional experience or academic qualifications covering subject matter taught.
  • Applicant must possess an academic degree one level above the level at which they will teach, except in programs for terminal degrees or when equivalent experience is established.
  • If teaching outside the field of their advanced degree, adjuncts must have completed at least 18 graduate level credit hours of instruction in the field where they teach.
  • At least 1 year professional or teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching.
  • Ability to organize and manage a group of nursing students to meet the course objectives and maximize student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledgeable in course management software and classroom instruction to meet the academic needs of students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing direct patient care in a hospital, clinic, outpatient, community, or office setting.

Essential Functions:

95% Instruction

  • Teaching BSN program coursework as assigned. Course assignments could include day and/or evening hours. Course content delivery could include didactic, laboratory, and off-campus clinical instruction.
  • Utilizing sound teaching strategies to enhance student understanding of difficult concepts.
  • Working with teams to provide and improve course implementation.
  • Serving as a clinical role model in all interactions with BSN students.
  • Facilitating a positive, collaborative learning environment for students including valuing diversity, integrity, accountability, ethics, and professional behaviors.
  • Maintaining appropriate professional certifications and licenses as applicable.
  • Understanding and committing to the Wright State University College of Nursing & Health’s mission and conceptual framework.
  • Actively mentoring and supporting students throughout the BSN curricula as assigned.

5% Perform additional duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Positions are part-time, non-tenure track. Hired on a semester as-needed basis. The Lake Campus of Wright State University is located in Celina, Ohio.
