Job Description

The Department of Economics and Finance at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance in the area of banking and financial institutions, beginning September 1, 2027.

• Maintain an active research program in banking and financial institutions, with publications in top academic finance journals.
• Provide high-quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including new banking courses in areas such as community and cross-border banking.
• Participate in the PhD Program in Business Administration by mentoring doctoral students and serving on dissertation committees.
• Attain and maintain AACSB faculty qualification as a Scholarly Academic (SA) in accordance with the College's faculty qualification standards.
• Serve on departmental and college committees and participate in community outreach, including close engagement with the regional banking community through the Banking Academy.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure-track appointment. Salary and benefits are AACSB-competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Hiring decisions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Job Requirements

• Experience mentoring doctoral students or serving on dissertation committees.
• Familiarity with the U.S.-Mexico border economy or binational banking.
