Job description

Harford Community College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Mechanical Engineering Faculty to join our team beginning January 2027.

Requirements:

Master's degree in Engineering or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Engineering

Ability to teach courses such as:

• Introduction to Engineering
• Statics
• Dynamics
• Thermodynamics
• Mechanics of Materials
• Calculus I and/or II

Interest in incorporating technology, including MATLAB, into engineering and mathematics instruction

Commitment to student success, collaboration, and creating an engaging learning environment

No prior teaching experience is required. Candidates with industry experience who are interested in transitioning into higher education are encouraged to apply.

As a faculty member, you will:

• Teach and assess student learning in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats

This is a 10-month tenure-track position with a typical teaching load of 15 contact hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, along with office hours and service responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience at the college or secondary level, or graduate teaching assistant experience
• Experience with student-centered instructional practices
• Ability to create a culturally inclusive classroom
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
• Interest in incorporating design projects and 3-D printing into engineering education

Employees must reside in Maryland or one of the contiguous jurisdictions: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia, or be willing to relocate.
