Job summary

Shepherd University School of Education invites applications for a full-time, tenured-track, Assistant Professor beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in elementary education, literacy and/or special education, engage in scholarly research, advise students, supervise field experiences, and contribute to service at the school and university levels.

Courses may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online. Evening teaching may be required.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Elementary Education, Special Education or closely related field required.
• Minimum of 3 years of successful K-6 teaching experience.
• Evidence of scholarly potential or record (publications, presentations, etc.).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in elementary education, literacy and/or special education.
• Engage in scholarly research and advise students.
• Supervise field experiences and participate in service at school and university levels.

Job description

The School of Education at Shepherd University invites applications for a full-time, tenured track, Assistant Professor in the School of Education beginning in August 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in elementary education, literacy and/or special education, engage in scholarly research, advise students, supervise field experiences, and contribute to service at the school, and university levels, and advising. Courses may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online. Evening teaching may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Earned Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Elementary Education, Special Education or closely related field
• Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in a K-6 setting.
• Evidence of scholarly potential or record (publications, conference presentations, etc.).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Reading/Literacy Specialist
• Special Education Certification
• Experience teaching at the college/university level.
• Familiarity with edTPA or other performance-based assessments.
• Experience supervising teacher candidates in field placements.
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction and field supervision.
