Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Natural and Physical Sciences at Shepherd University invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Environmental Science with specialization in an Ecology‑related field. The Department values student mentorship and experiential learning opportunities and seeks candidates who combine field and/or lab research in their teaching. Candidates excited about supporting undergraduate research and who are dedicated to high quality, innovative undergraduate education are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to teach 3 lectures and associated labs per semester, hold office hours each week, and assist with student advising and mentorship. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level, postdoctoral experience, and/or experience mentoring undergraduate research students.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Environmental Science or closely related field, teaching experience at the undergraduate level, and a willingness to mentor undergraduate research students.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Environmental Science or closely related field and experience teaching Aquatic Science classes such as Oceanography, Limnology, and Stream Ecology, the ability to conduct research, preferably involving undergraduate students, and a willingness to mentor undergraduate research students in projects of their own.
