The School of Natural Resources (SNR) at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) in Knoxville, Tennessee, invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Applied Wildlife Management, with a 60% research and 40% Extension appointment. The anticipated start date is August 2027.
The successful candidate will develop a research and Extension program focused on applied wildlife management relevant to Tennessee landscapes. Potential areas include habitat management, population dynamics, resource selection, and movement ecology. The candidate will contribute to the Land Grant University mission of research, teaching, and Extension and will mentor students. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment are required.
The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with state and federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private landowners; secure extramural funding; publish in peer-reviewed journals; develop and promote Extension programs in applied wildlife management; conduct in-service training for UT Extension and state agencies as appropriate; direct graduate students; mentor undergraduate students; serve on School and Institute committees; and participate in professional societies.
