Job summary

The University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Modern Iberian Studies in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, with a start date in 2027. The successful candidate will teach in graduate and undergraduate programs, including in the College Core, and develop an active research agenda.

Required: native or near-native competence in Spanish and English; expertise in nineteenth to twenty-first century Iberian cultural traditions;

Qualifications

• PhD required before start date.
• Native or near-native competence in Spanish and English.
• Portuguese and other Iberian languages are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, including in College Core.
• Advise students and serve on departmental and university committees.
• Develop an active research program and publish in leading venues.
