Job summary

Rowan University’s Department of Medical Education and Scholarship at the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor to teach physiology and/or biochemistry, facilitate problem-based learning sessions, and deliver large group lectures. The role may cover DO, PA programs, and the School of Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences.

The faculty member will be based in Stratford, NJ or Sewell, NJ with some travel between campuses.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree (PhD, DO, or MD) with expertise in physiology and/or biochemistry.
• For physician applicants, clinical duties and/or teaching in the simulation center may be required.
• At least 3 years experience teaching medical students and small group facilitation, specifically PBL experience, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach physiology and/or biochemistry content.
• Facilitate in-person small groups of PBL and provide large group lectures.
• Cover duties in the DO/PA programs and School of Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences as needed.
• Complete mid-block and end-of-block student evaluations using the specified template.
• Contribute to case review, case-writing, item writing for exams, faculty development, and medical education research.
• Participate in training for PBL and ongoing faculty development programs.
• Support student learning through collaboration with the CSS and Office of Faculty Development.
• Know curriculum policies and procedures related to pre-clerkship delivery.
• Participate in academic committees as assigned.
