Job Description

The Department of Management & Marketing in Winthrop University’s AACSB -Accredited College of Business and Technology invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in Marketing at the rank of Assistant Professor.

We seek an enthusiastic, student-centered educator who is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, and is eager to contribute to the continued growth and strategic direction of the department. The successful candidate will join a collaborative department focused on preparing students for meaningful careers through engaging instruction, experiential learning, strong connections with employers and alumni, and an innovative and relevant curriculum.

The ideal candidate will bring energy and creativity to the classroom while also helping advance the department’s strategic priorities in career readiness, enrollment and program growth, curriculum innovation, community engagement, and program visibility. We especially value faculty who are interested in connecting classroom learning with professional practice and helping students develop the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing business environment.

Position Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing data analytics, marketing research and possibly sales while delivering high-quality, engaging, and student-centered instruction.
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda in Marketing consistent with the expectations for tenure and promotion at Winthrop University.
  • Create a supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement, academic success, professional development, and career readiness.
  • Incorporate contemporary business practices, emerging technologies, and innovative teaching approaches into the curriculum, including appropriate applications of artificial intelligence and other evolving technologies.
  • Support experiential and applied learning opportunities that connect academic content with real-world business challenges.
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career preparation, internships, and professional opportunities.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement to ensure Marketing programs remain relevant, innovative, and responsive to student and employer needs.
  • Participate in student recruitment, retention, and enrollment-growth initiatives for Marketing and other departmental programs.
  • Help strengthen relationships with alumni, employers, community organizations, and other external partners to expand opportunities for students.
  • Contribute to departmental efforts to increase the visibility and recognition of Marketing programs, faculty, students, and alumni.
  • Participate actively in the collaborative work of the Department of Management & Marketing and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

Support the department’s strategic vision and contribute to initiatives that advance career readiness, enrollment, curriculum innovation, community engagement, and program visibility.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D., DBA , or terminal degree in Marketing or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABD candidates who will complete their degree by the position start date may be considered.
  • Previous experience in undergraduate or graduate-level teaching in data analytics, marketing research, or other quantitative courses in marketing.
  • Demonstrated potential to maintain a scholarly agenda appropriate for a tenure-track faculty appointment.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with employers, industry partners, and community organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of highly effective, engaging, and innovative undergraduate and graduate-level teaching. Professional or applied experience in Marketing or a related business field.
  • Experience incorporating experiential learning, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, or other innovative practices into teaching. Experience developing relationships with employers, alumni, community organizations, or other external partners.
  • Experience supporting student recruitment, retention, career readiness, or professional development initiatives.
  • Interest in contributing to curriculum innovation and the growth and visibility of academic programs.
  • Interest in creating and teaching courses in professional selling.
Employment Conditions

This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track faculty appointment.
