Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Department of Mathematics and Physics within the College of Arts and Sciences promotes NCCU's commitment to excellence in instruction, research, and service, offering programs leading to B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics and physics, as well as general education courses.

Primary Purpose of Position

To perform the duties of NCCU faculty at the rank of Lecturer, primarily teaching GEC mathematics and physics courses.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; excellent teaching skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong knowledge base in mathematics.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to teach mathematics at all levels and lower division computational courses using evidence-based pedagogical methods.
  • Ability to create a sustainable research program of interest to funding agencies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and supervise student researchers.
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or Science Education.
