The University of Kentucky’s Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Special Education – Learning and Behavior Disorders. This 9-month, tenure-eligible faculty position is open to start August 16, 2027.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Doctorate in Special Education (earned or expected) prior to start date.
Minimum of three years of direct experience as a special education teacher serving K-12 students with Learning and Behavior Disorders in the United States.
Commitment to innovative, inclusive educational practices for students with disabilities.
Ability to collaborate effectively with K-12 partners in education.
Use of evidence-based practices in school settings.

Responsibilities

Maintain a productive research agenda and seek external funding.
Teach two courses each semester and supervise fieldwork.
Advise current and incoming students.
Engage with K-12 and university faculty in planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Serve on masters and doctoral committees and contribute to department, college, and university service.
