The University of Alabama Libraries invites applicants to join the School of Library and Information Studies to teach in our online Master of Library & Information Studies program and undergraduate courses. The standard load is four courses per semester with optional summer teaching for additional compensation.

Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Library and Information Science or cognate area from a regionally accredited university prior to the appointment date.
Demonstrated academic expertise in information literacy (broadly defined).
Experience at the graduate and/or undergraduate level and a commitment to working with nontraditional students.
Evidence of successful teaching.

Responsibilities

Teach in our predominantly synchronous online graduate MLIS program and undergraduate programs with a four-course load per semester.
Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Maintain engagement in academic research.
Participate in professional service and engagement with SLIS, the College, the University of Alabama, and national associations.
