Job description

The Department of Earth Sciences in the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Paleoclimatology.

We seek a scholar who develops paleoclimate records that advance understanding of past and present climate and inform future projections. We welcome a broad range of approaches and particularly encourage research relevant to Hawai‘i and the Pacific region. Research addressing climate variability, extremes, environmental change, and the processes governing past and future climate dynamics is especially welcome.

The successful candidate will establish an externally funded research program, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring, and collaborate broadly within Earth Sciences, SOEST, the University, and the wider scientific community. We particularly welcome candidates whose research complements and expands existing strengths in Earth and environmental sciences at UH Mānoa.

The Department of Earth Sciences offers a collaborative environment with research and teaching spanning geology, geophysics, geochemistry, volcanology, hydrology, climate, and Earth and planetary processes.
