Job description

The Department of Communication at Stanford University seeks applicants for a junior appointment at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. We invite applications from individuals working at the frontiers of media and politics, broadly defined, including candidates from all social science disciplines and related disciplines such as data and information sciences. While we place highest priority to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work, particular areas of interest include political communication, political economy, polarization, as well as the utilization of computational, experimental, or other quantitative methods.

Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring and the ability to maintain a world‑class research program. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2027. The expected base pay range for this position is $133,235 – $143,916. Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the University reasonably expects to pay the position upon hire. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, and internal equity.
