The Department of Computer Science at Stanford University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor).

We are seeking applicants from all areas of Computer Science, spanning theoretical foundations, systems, software, and applications. We are also interested in applicants doing research at the frontiers of Computer Science with other disciplines, including but certainly not limited to those in the engineering, mathematical, medical, physical, and social sciences. Further information about the Computer Science Department can be found at https://cs.stanford.edu. The School of Engineering website may be found at https://engineering.stanford.edu.

Applicants must have completed, or be completing, a Ph.D. in the advertised field or a closely related one. Evidence of the ability to pursue a program of research, and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching are also required. A successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and to build and lead a team of graduate students in Ph.D. research.

The Computer Science Department, School of Engineering, and Stanford University value faculty who will help foster an open and respectful academic environment for colleagues, students, and staff with a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. Candidates may choose to include as part of their research and teaching statements a brief discussion about how their work and experience will further these values.

The review of applications will begin on December 1, 2026, and applicants are strongly encouraged to submit complete applications by that date for full consideration; however, applications will continue to be accepted until January 4, 2027. Interviews will begin in the winter term, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.
