Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Communication, Journalism,Mass Communication, or a closely related discipline. ABD candidateswith a clear plan for degree completion prior to May 31, 2027, maybe considered. Applications will be reviewed beginning on October15, 2026.

The teaching load is three courses per academic semester and mayinclude face-to-face, hybrid, or online delivery formats. We areseeking excellent teacher-scholars who can teach the department’sfoundation courses as well as courses in the graduate program,including communication theory and communication research. Facultywill also teach courses in their areas of expertise. Preferencewill be given to candidates whose expertise includes one or more ofthe following areas: media, social media, health communication, andemerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence. Faculty areexpected to provide high-quality instruction, maintain an activescholarly agenda, mentor students, and provide service to theDepartment, College, and University.

Required Qualifications

Must hold the appropriate terminal degree or meet the establishedalternative qualifications, and exhibit strong potential forexcellence in teaching.

Job Duties

• Teaches students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or studio.
• Prepares content, syllabi, and University Moodle/curricular sitefor each course and/or lab assigned each semester. Communicates tostudents after reviewing assignments. Calculates and assigns grades(e.g., mid-term and final) through established procedures listed inthe Faculty Manual and University catalog. Tracks and reportsabsences as directed by the Office of the Registrar.
• Conducts research to create and add to knowledge in a field orproduces creative work. Trains students in related researchtechniques and in creative production.
• Posts and holds regular office hours each week per College andUniversity guidelines. Engages in University-related activitiesincluding committee assignments, meetings, ceremonies, events andscholarly pursuits as prescribed in the Faculty Manual.
• Performs other departmental needs as assigned.
