The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Wilkes University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering position with a preferred specialization in Power Systems. We seek a collaborative teacher-scholar committed to excellence in undergraduate education, hands‑on learning, student mentoring, and faculty‑student scholarship. The anticipated start date is Fall 2027.

Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate electrical engineering courses and associated laboratory courses
• Contribute to the delivery and continued development of the Electrical Engineering curriculum
• Develop and maintain an active program of scholarship and research, with opportunities for undergraduate and graduate student participation
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students
• Participate in assessment and continuous improvement activities associated with ABET accreditation
• Contribute to departmental, college, university, and professional service
• Collaborate with faculty across engineering and related disciplines

Areas of Interest:

Applicants from all areas of Electrical Engineering will be considered. Particular consideration will be given to candidates whose expertise complements existing faculty strengths and who can contribute to teaching core undergraduate electrical engineering courses. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Electric power systems and smart‑grid modernization
• Power electronics, electric drives, and transportation electrification
• Renewable‑energy integration, energy storage, and microgrids
• Grid resilience, protection, and cybersecurity
• Related areas of electrical and computer engineering

Candidates who can teach across multiple areas of the undergraduate Electrical Engineering curriculum are especially encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field by the time of appointment
• A strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
• The ability to teach both lecture and laboratory courses
• The potential to establish a productive program of scholarly activity appropriate to Wilkes University
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching undergraduate electrical engineering courses
• Ability to teach a broad range of core Electrical Engineering subjects
• Experience developing or teaching engineering laboratories
• Research interests that provide meaningful opportunities for undergraduate and graduate participation
• Industrial or professional engineering experience
• Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
• Experience with externally funded research or demonstrated potential to pursue external funding
• Familiarity with ABET accreditation and continuous improvement processes
