GUMC, located in Washington, DC, comprises the School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Health Studies, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Biomedical Graduate Research and Education. The center's mission centers on research, teaching, and patient care, emphasizing community outreach and collaboration, particularly regarding social determinants of health. Medical education and research are conducted within the MedStar Health System, including Georgetown University Hospital and affiliated community practices.
Position Description and Responsibilities
Clinical: The candidate will participate in teaching and attending services at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, including outpatient Infectious Diseases clinics and inpatient services covering general ID, immunocompromised hosts, and transplant ID.
Research: The candidate should have excellent clinical skills and experience with large clinical datasets for research. Responsibilities include involvement with the Georgetown HIV cohort studies, such as MACS/WIHS, and the STAR study. The candidate is expected to develop a research portfolio, focusing on neurocognition and comorbidities in persons with HIV, and lead hospitalization data collection for these cohorts. A background in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and experience with ICD coding in translational research are required. Active participation in the DC CFAR is also expected.
