Job summary

University of the Incarnate Word seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity (Offensive Security and Applied AI) to begin Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach four courses in each fall and spring semester and contribute to new Applied AI Engineering programs.

Responsibilities include teaching, developing courses, building labs, mentoring capstone projects with industry partners, and contributing to NSA CAE‑CD accreditation efforts, while maintaining ethical scholarship

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field with at least 18 graduate hours in Computer Information Systems or Cybersecurity
• At least 1 year of teaching experience at college/university level in cybersecurity, computing, or AI
• Demonstrated record of scholarship or potential to develop a sustainable scholarly program, suitable for a teaching‑focused university

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Cyber Security Systems and CIS with emphasis on offensive security and applied AI
• Develop and teach new undergraduate and future graduate courses for planned Applied AI Engineering programs
• Build and maintain hands‑on red‑team and applied AI laboratory exercises and coach student cyber competition teams
• Mentor project‑based and capstone courses with industry partners
• Prepare course outlines based on approved departmental syllabi
• Collaborate with faculty to ensure curriculum outcomes and NSA CAE‑CD accreditation
• Prepare and administer meaningful exams, projects, and assessments
• Advise and mentor students with weekly office hours
