Position Description: The Assistant Professor will undertake responsibilities in research, service, and teaching within the Division of Computational Health Sciences (CHS) in the Department of Surgery and the Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS). Responsibilities include identifying funding opportunities, leading or participating in research projects related to applied real-world data science and evidence, contributing to professional development, serving on committees, and mentoring learners. The role also involves leading development and implementation of data science methods to support CLHSS efforts, collaborating on projects that advance real-world evidence in healthcare, and conducting high-quality research to improve healthcare practices.
Required: A terminal degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in health informatics or related field, demonstrated high-quality research in health informatics, effective communication skills, expertise in analysis techniques, and experience in interdisciplinary research collaboration. Preferred: Teaching experience, expertise in healthcare data, project management skills, and familiarity with biomedical data representation.
The position resides within the Division of CHS in the Department of Surgery, which aims to develop novel computational methods for biomedical big data analysis. The Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS) focuses on translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice to improve health outcomes.
