JOB SUMMARY:

By providing a learning environment that values critical thinking, curiosity, objectivity, and respect for diversity, the Chemistry Department seeks to guide students in the development of an understanding of physical and life science concepts that will enable them to make informed decisions about their career, the environment, and other areas of human endeavor as responsible, informed members of the community. Chemistry Department educators enable students to acquire skills and habits of mind that allow for safe, accurate, objective, and effective scientific inquiry. We also serve the diverse needs of the community by providing, through an appropriate array of physical and life science courses, opportunities for every student to acquire a solid academic foundation upon which to become successful in their pursuit of further education, career, and a lifetime of learning.

The successful candidate will teach basic, general, and/or organic chemistry courses for STEM, liberal arts, and health sciences areas, and/or courses in chemical technology. An educational background in Chemistry is required. Successful candidates will have a desire and demonstrated ability to work with undergraduate students from diverse cultures, disciplines, and academic backgrounds.

This position will begin Spring 2027 semester.

  • Adhere to general lab safety, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals and biohazard waste.
  • Course Management:
  • Use technology to enhance instruction, complete administrative tasks, and communicate effectively with the students and the campus community.
  • Create assessments that evaluate student learning outcomes.
  • Curriculum Development:Use a student-focused approach to create meaningful educational experiences.
  • Departmental Support:
  • Participation in college and departmental activities, including committee work, assessment and development of new course modalities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of a master's degree in chemistry
  • Willingness to travel to multiple campus locations as required by department needs.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of a collaborative approach in working both effectively and professionally with students and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of learning management software (LMS), such as Blackboard Ultra, or related programs.
  • Ability to use common laboratory equipment such as balances, pipettes, and spectroscopy.
