Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a tenure-track (9-month) Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Atmospheric Sciences program, with a July 1, 2027 hire date or after. The successful candidate will build innovative research agendas and mentor students, teaching core courses and leveraging established observational infrastructure.

Competitive startup funds are available. Candidates should demonstrate potential for external funding and a strong commitment to student success

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Physics or related field.
• Postdoctoral or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to pursue external funding.
• Commitment to student success via teaching and/or mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and advisement.
• Teach Atmospheric Physics, Instrumentation, Dynamical Meteorology and Radiation Transfer.
• Oversee observational infrastructure (AERONET, MPLnet lidar, multispectral photoacoustic equipment).
• Pursue external funding to support research programs.
