Job summary

Davidson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Analytical Chemistry, beginning July 1, 2027. A PhD is required prior to start.

The candidate will develop and apply novel analytical methods, especially mass spectrometry, while teaching CHE 220, CHE 320, CHE 115, and electives. The position includes start-up funds and a personal lab in a modern interdisciplinary building.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field before start of appointment.
• Expertise in development and application of novel analytical methods, particularly mass spectrometry.
• Willingness to teach analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis at various levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach analytical chemistry courses (CHE 220, CHE 320, CHE 115) and advanced electives.
• Pursue an active, mentored undergraduate research program.
• Establish a funded start-up for a personal research lab within a state-of-the-art facility.
• Contribute to teaching and mentoring of students from diverse backgrounds.
