Job summary

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a board-certified Otologist/Neurotologist for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. The role focuses on building a robust skull base practice as the state's sole academic lateral skull base surgeon.

The appointment offers opportunities for clinical, translational, or basic science research, and teaching of residents, medical students, and fellows.

Qualifications

  • MD with board certification and Arkansas license or eligibility.
  • Academic/teaching interest desired.
  • Experience in otology/neurotology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Join a collegial team of subspecialists in innovation and mentorship.
  • Practice at UAMS Health with access to a wide referral base.
  • Perform neurotologic procedures including cochlear implantation and skull base surgery.
  • Collaborate across Neurosurgery, Audiology, Radiation Oncology, and other specialties.
  • Support clinical, translational, or basic science research.
  • Teach and mentor residents, medical students, and fellows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a board-certified Otologist/Neurotologist who is interested in building a robust skull base practice. This is a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The individual would be the only academic lateral skull base surgeon in the state of Arkansas.

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic academic department in a collaborative environment focused on clinical excellence, cutting‑edge research, and comprehensive medical education. Qualifications:
  • MD, Board Certification, and license to practice medicine or eligibility in Arkansas
Responsibilities:
  • Join a collegial team of fellowship‑trained subspecialists in a department dedicated to innovation, mentorship, and academic success.
  • Practice at UAMS Health, Arkansas's leading academic health center, with access to a wide referral base and a diverse patient population.
  • Perform a full range of neurotologic procedures, including cochlear implantation, lateral skull base surgery, vestibular schwannoma management, and complex otologic reconstruction.
  • Collaborate across disciplines with Neurosurgery, Audiology, Radiation Oncology, and other specialties in multidisciplinary skull base and hearing preservation programs.
  • Enjoy protected time and institutional support for clinical, translational, or basic science research.
  • Play an active role in teaching and mentoring residents, medical students, and, as appropriate, fellows.
  • Other duties as assigned.
