In recent years, UNF has transitioned to an R2 institution with an increasing focus on research while maintaining excellence in teaching. Faculty at UNF are on flexible teaching loads, typically teaching between four and six courses per year, with newly hired faculty on a reduced load of two courses per semester for the first three years. Continued reduced teaching loads may be offered to faculty demonstrating significant accomplishments aligned with the university's strategic plan ( https://www.unf.edu/strategic-plan/index.html ). Startup funds are available and negotiable.
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Political Science (BA), Public Administration (MPA), and International Affairs (MAIA - which the new hire will be expected to contribute to), as well as minors in Political Science, Public Administration, and Political Campaigns.
The department includes the Public Opinion Research Laboratory (PORL), a highly ranked full-service survey research facility, as well as the Public Service Leadership Program (PSLP), and the Pre-Law Program.
