The College of Business ( COB ) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA , MBA , and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. The Department of Finance and Insurance within the College of Business at ECU has approximately 1,100 undergraduate majors and over 20 faculty members and offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The finance and insurance faculty promote a collegial and stimulating environment that encourages intellectual collaboration and professional development through education, research, creative activities, and service.

Job Duties

The Department of Finance and Insurance within the College of Business at East Carolina University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position beginning August 2026. High-quality teaching is expected, and the successful candidate will be able to teach some combination of graduate and undergraduate courses in a variety of courses within the finance discipline. The standard teaching load is 9 s.h. in each of the fall and spring semesters. Additional duties include research/creative activities leading to quality publications as required for tenure, and, appropriate service to the students, university, community, and profession. The department encourages experiential learning activities and the faculty candidate will be expected to contribute to those activities.

This appointment requires a PhD in the teaching field or related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under SACS guidelines. Candidates with PhD conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the probationary rank of Assistant Professor.
ABD candidates will also be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to their first reappointment. The position requires teaching excellence, strong scholarly productivity, and contribution to experiential learning activities.
