Job description

The Division of Rheumatology is recruiting a full-time physician scientist with expertise in cellular therapies. The division serves as a site for two industry-sponsored CAR T cell therapy trials, with plans to broaden the expertise in this area. Therefore, we are seeking to recruit a new faculty member at the Assistant Professor level who will lead the development of the Integrated Multidisciplinary Pediatric Autoimmunity and Cell Therapy Center.

Initial success with B cell-targeted CAR T cell therapy in adult Lupus has generated enthusiasm for the broad application of this technology for pediatric patients with severe rheumatic diseases that require lifelong therapy with a substantial toxicity burden and a high cost of care. Although CAR T cell therapy shows promise for pediatric rheumatic diseases, there are unique aspects of care compared with adults, which require careful consideration and unique expertise.

The development of this center will require collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the Children's Hospital including Immunology, BMT, Nephrology and Pulmonology teams. This new center is expected to attract large numbers of national referrals. It will also provide a perfect setting for teaching residents and fellows while pursuing major research initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This faculty member will devote 20% of her or his time to patient care, providing outpatient pediatric rheumatology consultations, and performing inpatient rheumatology consultations when on call. Additionally, 75% of the effort will be devoted to laboratory-based translational research and remaining 5% to other academic activities.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, genetic information, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
