The Department of Nursing within the Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences (MCNHS) invites applicants to join our diverse college as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, beginning September 1, 2024. These positions aim to enhance our research portfolio and educational programs at both graduate and undergraduate levels. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in fundamentals of professional nursing, maternal health, child health, community health, mental health, and health policy.
Applicants must hold an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field and be eligible for RN licensure in Massachusetts. Preference will be given to those with an established independent research agenda, demonstrated ability or promise to secure external research funding, and peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas. Teaching experience in higher education is preferred, with online teaching experience considered a plus. The MCNHS and its Office of Research offer strong mentoring programs for faculty, including support for grant proposals and manuscript development. The college collaborates with numerous institutions such as Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, UMass Chan Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, and others, fostering multidisciplinary research opportunities. The University’s partnership with the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center is funded by the National Cancer Institute (https://umb-dfhcc.org/), supporting research on health disparities, PhD training, and community outreach.
The nursing programs (BS, MS, DNP) are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The MS and DNP focus on Family and Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioners, while the PhD emphasizes population health and health policy.
