Job summary

Thorne, located in Summerville, SC, is seeking an Assistant Production Supervisor to lead encapsulation operations under cGMP standards. You’ll gain hands-on leadership experience coaching operators, coordinating daily manufacturing activities, and driving continuous improvement in a regulated production environment.

This role emphasizes collaboration with Quality Assurance and Laboratory teams, safety, and adherence to regulatory requirements while developing into a Production Supervisor role.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or regulated production environment (FDA, cGMP, ISO, or similar) preferred.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating teams is preferred.
  • Ability to learn multiple manufacturing processes including Mixing, Encapsulation, Packaging, and Sanitation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Production Leadership to coordinate daily manufacturing activities and ensure production schedules are safe, efficient, and on time.
  • Help manage staffing, equipment, materials, and workflow to support production goals and maximize performance.
  • Monitor production progress, identify issues, and communicate opportunities and risks to leadership.
  • Ensure manufacturing activities comply with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and Thorne quality standards.
  • Review production records and controlled documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Partner with QA and Laboratory teams to resolve quality concerns and maintain product excellence.
  • Support development and continuous improvement of manufacturing procedures and processes.
  • Monitor production performance, equipment readiness, and department metrics to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Ensure production areas remain inspection-ready and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workflow and remove obstacles.
  • Model safe work practices and ensure PPE compliance.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to Production Leads and Operators.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and cross-training initiatives.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, continuous learning, and employee engagement.

Working alongside experienced Production Leadership, you'll gain hands‑on experience managing daily operations, coaching team members, solving operational challenges, and driving continuous improvement within our Encapsulation department. In this role, you'll help lead the operation of equipment that transforms blended formulations into finished capsules, ensuring exceptional product quality, equipment performance, production efficiency, and compliance with cGMP and manufacturing standards. You'll play an active role in delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing while building the leadership capabilities needed to advance into a Production Supervisor role.

Weekend Schedule‑ 12 Hour Shifts

  • Week 1: Friday – Sunday
  • Week 2: Thursday – Sunday
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with Production Leadership to coordinate daily manufacturing activities and ensure production schedules are executed safely, efficiently, and on time.

  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to Production Leads and Operators.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, training, certification programs, and cross‑training initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous learning, and employee engagement.
WHAT YOU NEED
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or regulated production environment (FDA, cGMP, ISO, or similar) preferred.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating teams is preferred.
  • Ability to learn multiple manufacturing processes, including Mixing, Encapsulation, Packaging, and Sanitation.
