Job summary

Champion Home Builders is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to direct and coordinate production in the absence of the Production Manager. You will guide foremen, enforce safety policies, and collaborate with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to optimize resources and product quality.

This role requires strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to adapt to deadlines and high-pressure environments while ensuring efficient production operations.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates the production in the absence of the Production Manager, supporting the manager when on site.
• Provides on-the-job guidance and training to Foreman.
• Enforces safety policies with Foremen and production employees.
• Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to optimize resources.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operation reports to identify causes of nonconformity and production problems.
• Develops and implements operating methods to eliminate problems and improve product quality.
• Revises production schedules and priorities due to equipment failure or operational issues.
• Consults with engineering on machine modifications to improve production and quality.

Summary

Directs and coordinates the production of company product(s) in the absence of the Production Manager by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. When Production Manager is on site, the Assistant follows and supports the manager's direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provides on the job guidance and training to Foreman.
• Enforces safety policies with Foremen and production employees.
• Coordinates personnel management with Human Resources department.
• Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
• Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
• Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
• Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise the plant employees when the Production Manager is unavailable. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education And/or Experience

One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
