Champion Home Builders, Inc. in Leesville, LA is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to direct and coordinate production in the absence of the Production Manager, and to support on-site operations.

This role emphasizes supervising interior trim, final finish and chassis within a multi-building facility, enforcing safety, training foremen, and coordinating with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to optimize resources.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
• Ability to lead a large team and meet stringent deadlines under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provides on the job guidance and training to Foreman.
• Enforces safety policies with Foremen and production employees.
• Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to identify nonconformities.
• Develops and implements operating methods to improve product quality and eliminate problems; revises schedules as needed.
• Consults with engineering on modification of machines and equipment to improve production and quality.
• Focuses on Interior Trim, Final Finish and Chassis in buildings B & C of the facility.

Summary

Directs and coordinates the production of company product(s) in the absence of the Production Manager by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. When Production Manager is on site, the Assistant follows and supports the manager's direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provides on the job guidance and training to Foreman.
• Enforces safety policies with Foremen and production employees.
• Coordinates personnel management with Human Resources department.
• Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
• Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
• Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
• Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
• Primarily focus on Interior Trim, Final Finish and Chassis which are located in buildings B & C of a 3 building operation facility.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise the plant employees when the Production Manager is unavailable. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education And/or Experience

Minimum 5 year supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent. One-year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must be flexible enough to work under stringent deadlines and high work pressure on a regular basis.
