Job summary

Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning theatre in the Berkshires, seeks an Assistant Producer for the summer 2025 season to manage day-to-day producing for St. Germain Stage and Mr. Finn’s Cabaret. The role reports to the Artistic Producer and supports producing team tasks inside Blatt Center for the Performing Arts.

The position runs late May through late August with a weekly pay of $800 (50 hours) and housing included; strong collaboration with artists and departments is essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily producing of shows on the St. Germain and Mr. Finn’s Cabaret.
• Collaborate with Artistic Producer and Production Management to keep productions under budget and high quality.
• Check-in with St. Germain productions daily to ensure needs are met and report to Artistic Producer.
• Oversee Cabaret performances, including talents’ needs, tech, ticketing and front of house.
• Liaise with other departments for St. Germain and Cabaret needs.
• Assist Artistic Producer on other projects, including possible line producing additional performances.

Assistant Producer and Cabaret Line Producer

Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is seeking an Assistant Producer for their summer 2025 season. The Assistant Producer is an important position within the Producing Team in the day-to-day operations and line producing of shows on our St. Germain Stage and Mr. Finn’s Cabaret, both located inside of our Blatt Center for the Performing Arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

• Oversee the daily producing of shows on the St. Germain and Mr. Finn’s Cabaret.
• Work with Artistic Producer and Production Management team to make sure all productions come in under budget and the work is of the highest possible quality within the capacity of the organization.
• Check-in with St. Germain productions on a daily basis to ensure they have everything they need in order to be successful while at Barrington Stage; reporting back to the Artistic Producer.
• Oversee Cabaret performances, including organizing talents’ needs, tech requirements, ticket sales and front of house arrangements.
• Liaise with other departments on St. Germain and Mr. Finn’s Cabaret needs.
• Assist the Artistic Producer on other projects as assigned which may include line producing additional special performances or other producing related tasks.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Passionate about theatre – writers, directors, actors and designers
• Extensive first-hand experience in collaborating with theatre artists in a professional theatre setting.
• A keen understanding of the theatre-making process and the challenges and demands of a producing theatre on a tight schedule
• A forward thinker, capable of discovering new, more effective ways of doing old things
• Ability to run with a new idea after analyzing the pros and cons.
• Great project management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• High level of self motivation
• Must be able to lift 30 lbs and transport it 20 ft.
• A driver’s license is required; a car is highly recommended
• This position runs late May through late August, with flexibility for the right candidate. The position receives a weekly pay of $800 inclusive of 50 hours, non-exempt, and housing is included. The position reports directly to and works closely with the Artistic Producer.
