Nexus Family Healing in Manteno, IL seeks an Assistant Principal for the Safe Harbor School to assist the Principal in managing the education program and staff toward a high-quality, therapeutic learning environment.

The role leads curriculum development, supervises teaching assistants and behavior staff, coordinates IEPs, schedules classes, and ensures compliance with accreditation and safety standards, with opportunities for advancement within Nexus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education with Type 75 licensure; 5 years teaching experience.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/Infection Control/Blood Bourne Pathogen/TCI certification required.
• Valid driver’s license; IL DCFS background check.
• Commitment to diversity and student-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop & maintain the academic program with current, outcomes-based curriculum.
• Lead and coach teaching assistants and behavior specialists; conduct performance reviews.
• Schedule IEP meetings and communicate with home districts.
• Ensure staffing coverage and back-up support to meet school standards.
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with licensing, HIPAA, and safety policies.
